Soccer Fans Want More Women In Charge At FIFA.

Members of the FIFA’s voting congress will be electing the organization’s next president on Friday, in Zurich. However, out of all the voters, women will only make up less than 1% and this is what soccer fans around the world want a change in.

In a recent survey conducted on soccer fans from all over the world, 64% of respondents want the number of women in key positions increased.

The Anti-corruption organization transparency international, together with the fan group Forza Football conducted a poll in 28 countries, where they surveyed around 25,000 soccer fans.

Most of the respondents in the 28 countries except Russia, believed that FIFA should have more women.

Some of the countries that registered the highest percentage of respondents in favor of the idea include Costa Rica with 83%, Colombia with78%, and Spain with 76%.

Coincidentally, Costa Rica and Spain made their first appearance at the Women’s World cup in 2015 while it was the second consecutive appearance of Colombia into the tournament.

On the other hand, 69% of British and 72% Americans support the idea of adding more women to FIFA’s voting congress that consists of delegates from FIFA’s209 member associations

An increase in the number of women in FIFA’s Executive committee will be voted on by the members on Friday as it is on the broad package of reforms.

Moya Dodd, who is an Australian and one of the few women on the committee came up with a provision that would require women to hold 6 of the 36 executive committee seats.

Dodd said, “This is an unexploited marketfor the world’s most popular game, where half of the world’s population have not really been given a full opportunity to participate. Hence adding more women will be a great step forward and will alsoenhance culture change. “

Golf Fans Miss Tiger

Golf Fans Miss Tiger

The sport is missing Tiger since he underwent back surgery and it is feared that the poor show up at tournaments is due to this. Fans are asking “Where is Tiger?”

Although there are other accredited players like Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcllroy and Jason Day who have managed to draw hug audiences, the show up is still not that great.

A golf executive with IMG,Kennerly said, “Tiger still delivers that unconventional fan that golf needs. This was evident when Tiger hurt himself last year and could not play the Honda Classic, where the sales of tickets to the tournament softened a little bit.”

The question at hand is, “Can Tiger Woods be replaced?” Well, I will let you be the judge of that. However, it isn’t much a factor to argue on since Tiger is by far the greatest player of his generation.

Many have said that to them, without Tiger in the game, we are missing something. It has been rumored that Tiger might not return to the sport due to his setbacks with the back surgery. We have not seen him on the course for such a long time it seems like forever.

Tiger however dismissed these rumors on Wednesday after he released a video that shows him taking a full swing with a 9 iron on an indoor swing simulator. “Progressing nicely” was the caption that couldn’t have been missed by anyone with sound mind.

The swing appeared perfect and to many it consoled them with the idea that the golf star will soon be back to wow us.

The timing of Woods back to the game is still unknown. By him not being able to play, the sport has suffered a major blow in terms of dollars and cents. People still want to see and appreciate Tiger’s game. He is still an enormous asset to golf.

It was to take two weeks, unfortunately, according to Mike Hayton, a specialist, Gidman will not be able to reach the fitness levels required to play professionally.

Horse Racing: Big Blow to Alberta as Northlands Track is Hosting its Last Season of Horse Racing

Horse Racing: Big Blow to Alberta as Northlands Track is Hosting its Last Season of Horse Racing

The 116 years old Edmonton’s Northlands Track in Alberta will close down after 2016 season of horse racing. We know of a number of eye catching fun places that goes to shatters because of a new investment plan and, well, the Northlands track is no different.

Vision 2020, as the redevelopment plan of Northlands track is known, will shut down the 64 hectares of the site on August 20, 2016 after the 87th running of a Canadian derby.

The Northlands Track is run by a non-profit organization and boasts of creating employment to over 7000 people in the province. Cathy Kiss, Northlands vice president said, “There is going to be change”.

Brian Bygrave, director of Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association of Alberta said, “Without Northlands, racing in Alberta would look awfully bleak”.

This does not go without saying that the industry will have to look at new venues. Horse owners and clients are concerned whether to breed their mares or to cancel their investments respectively.

There is a Balzac track but it is not yet complete since it has facilities of thoroughbred horse racing. Thoroughbred horses cannot use similar tracks to those of standard bred since they need stable and different track surface.

The only option left will be that of using local casinos to bet in the off track betting system.

The fall down of more than a century old racing track will bring rise to a new investment that will also benefit the community around Northlands track.

Virginia Park to the south and Bellevue to the east will benefit from increased amenities and their property values will be tripled as well. Safe to say it also has its perks.

Tony Caterina, Northlands councillor and board member said, “The possibilities are endless”.
